Ghana’s foremost event management
company Charterhouse Productions organisers of the prestigious Ghana
Music Awards, have apologized to Rapper Sarkodie for using his name
without his permission in a VMGA ad as one of the performers on the
upcoming awards night set for Saturday April 11.
The company
have released a press statement apologizing to the “Illuminati” Rapper
after he took to social media over the weekend to tell the world how he
felt about what he described as disrespect and cheating on the part of
Charterhouse.
Peeved Sarkodie took to twitter on Easter Monday April 6 2015 to take a swipe at the Ghana Music Awards organisers. He tweeted;
"Charter house always trying to play smart on Us smh"
"Everyone benefiting off entertaining but the entertainers"
The
BET Award winner continued his social media rant today with countless
tweets, registering his displeasure on how Charterhouse is using his
name illegally to "deceive" his fans and make money with his name. In
a swift responds, Charterhouse have accepted their mistake and taken
responsibly for what seems like an issue of miscommunication or an
avoidable error on their part.

Read the unedited statement from Charterhouse below:
The
management of Charterhouse expressly apologises for a Vodafone Ghana
Music Awards radio commercial that has aired on YFM announcing Sarkodie
as one of the performing artistes on the night.
We would like to expressly state that Sarkodie IS NOT performing at the 16TH VODAFONE GHANA MUSIC AWARDS.
Prior
to this, we had been communicating and had met with a member of his
management team trying to arrive at a favourable figure. In anticipation
of that figure coupled with the unstable power situation in the country
plus the long Easter weekend ahead of us, where it would be almost
impossible to get a studio to record, we worked ahead and recorded
different versions of the 16th VGMA’s final event radio commercial. One
with Sarkodie’s name and another without. With our fingers crossed, the
ads were all submitted to our media manager.
Unfortunately, we
were unable to come to a favourable agreement and parted ways amicably.
Our media manager was immediately informed on Thursday evening to send
out only the ad that DID NOT HAVE Sarkodie’s name. This, she did except
for YFM, where she sent the wrong ad which had Sarkodie’s name. Clearly,
it was an error from our end which we have totally admitted.
We hereby unreservedly apologise to Sarkodie, his management friends and fans as well.
Measures have been taken to ensure this does not happen again. FROM: CHARTERHOUSE GHANA
