Another cell break in A/R; two suspects escape

Another cell break in A/R; two suspects escape

Ghana Police Ready
Two suspects in Police custody at Ahafo Ano North in the Ashanti region are reported to have escaped.

According to information gathered by Starr News, the suspects managed to smuggle some metal weapons into the cells and systematically cut the iron bars to make their getaway.

The Police in the region have launched a manhunt to re-arrest the suspects.

Two Police officers on duty are currently being interrogated by the Regional Security Council to establish how the suspects escaped from Police custody.

This is the second cell break in less than a month after seven suspects also broke cell in Denu in the Volta region.

In February this year, some inmates of the Kumasi Central prisons attempted to escape but the Police quickly foiled the jailbreak.

One inmate was confirmed dead following a scuffle between some of the inmates and security personnel during the attempted jailbreak.

The latest cell break comes after a security Analyst Emmanuel Sowatey last week predicted more prisoner escapes from police cells in the coming months.

I told Goodluck he will lose the elections - T.B Joshua

I told Goodluck he will lose the elections - T.B Joshua

TB Joshua New
Televangelist and cleric of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope Joshua, Sunday, said he told President Goodluck Jonathan, that he would lose the March 28 presidential election.

Jonathan of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, was defeated by Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd) of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

T.B Joshua said he sent his message to the President weeks before the election.

“I want to use this moment to congratulate Nigerians in our midst here,” Mr. Joshua began in a message to his congregation, televised live via his Christian network Emmanuel TV and posted on the social network of the church.

“This message should be delivered to your president, that whatever the outcome of this election, his regime has come to an end. He should accept to save the lives of millions,” Joshua claimed God told him in a revelation.

Joshua said he called Jonathan by phone, stressing that he chose to relay it personally so that it will not affect votes’ pattern or be seen as a campaign for any of the candidate in the election. He added that he has shared with President Jonathan many revelations about Nigeria which eventually came to pass.

Joshua said Jonathan promptly sent a close aide to meet him.

After the presidential aide had worshipped at his church during a Sunday service, Joshua said he met him and relayed the revelation that Jonathan’s regime had come to an end. “Soft landing – that is the language I sent to the president,” he told attendees.

Mr. Joshua described President Jonathan as a man who ‘has a heart for God’, revealing that he even spoke with the Nigerian president shortly before his historic concession call to President-elect Buhari.

“I said to him, ‘Your Excellency – all you need to say is ‘thank You, Jesus’, even when it seems there is nothing to be thankful for. He said, ‘Thank you, man of God’. Before I knew it, I saw the news on CNN that he had congratulated his opponent,”?Joshua said.?

Alluding to his prediction a week to the election that the dark cloud he saw covering Nigeria was lifting, he said that a bloody ‘war’ would have ensued if not for the prompt concession of power by President Jonathan.

“Look, Nigeria wanted change – everyone was yearning for change. An attempt to stop change leads to war, to a bloodbath… If Nigeria knows what we have overcome, we would dance,”?Joshua said.?

Joshua praised Jonathan’s tenure insisting that he had served his nation well despite the immense security challenges.

“I really want to salute President Jonathan. The President has served; he has done his best. It was just the season of crisis – and unfortunately he found himself at the lead in the season of crisis,”?he said.?

He prayed that people from the ‘South-South’ region in Nigeria where President Jonathan hails from would understand that ‘their son has become a hero’, adding that his actions prove the region is after a united Nigeria.

Perez Chapel supports Agyin-Asare's slam of Islamic fundamentalism

Perez Chapel supports Agyin-Asare's slam of Islamic fundamentalism

Bishop Charles Agyin Asare New
Perez Chapel International (PCI) has thrown its "full" weight, as a church, behind its founding Bishop’s recent condemnation of the activities of Islamist fundamentalists in the world.

"We are in full support of our Bishop," the church’s Resident Pastor, Raymond Acquah told StarrFmonline.com in an interview Tuesday.

Pastor Acquah said just like many world leaders are doing, it is not out of place for Perez’s founding Bishop, Charles Agyin-Asare to speak out against the activities of Islamist fundamentalists.

His comments come on the back of an assertion by a Muslim cleric, Sheikh Muhammed Zakaria Addo that Bishop Agyin-Asare’s recent claim that there could be as many as 200 million Islamist fundamentalists in the world, is provocative.

In his Easter Sunday sermon, Bishop Agyin-Asare said if between 10 and 17 percent of Muslims were thought to be fundamentalists, then it meant about 200 million of the world’s 1.2 billion Muslim population is made up of Islamist fundamentalists who are targeting Christians to harm them merely for being Christians.

Sheikh Addo, however, took strong exception to the Bishop’s comment. "This is not the first time Bishop Agyin-Asare is provoking Muslims," Sheikh Addo said in an interview with Starr News’ Abena Owusu Nyamekye adding that: "…The way Agyin-Asare talked…, I think it’s something that we don’t expect because not all the Muslims [who] will hear this preaching [will] keep quiet."

In Sheikh Addo’s view, there are also Christian fundamentalists in the world who are terrorising Muslims, and so religious extremism and fundamentalism should be condemned across the board. He cited the Central African Republic (CAR) as an example where Christian militias have waged a cleansing war against Muslims to buttress his point.

He nonetheless condemned all activities of Islamist fundamentalists as "un-Islamic," adding that the Muslim community, just like Bishop Agyin-Asare and other world leaders, equally condemns the recent massacre of 148 Christians at Garrissa University College in Kenya by al-Shabab militants.

Joining the fundamentalism condemnation wagon is another christian cleric, Rev Lawrence Dr. D. Asante of the Winning Family International Church in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi has also issued a statement concurring with the Perez Chapel founder.

"Bishop Agyin-Asare has done what other peace loving leaders across the world like Al Azhar, the foreign minister of Egypt; Pope Francis, Nana Akufo-Addo," has done, he said in the statement issued Monday. Also Ghanaian Muslim cleric Sheikh Irbad Ibrahim has condemned the attack and also told Morning Starr’s Kafui Dey on Starr 103.5FM that it was high time the youth in Muslim-populated areas in Ghana such as Nima in Accra, and Tamale in the Northern Region are sensitised against Islamic fundamentalism so that terrorists do not take advantage of them through radicalisation.

Also in January this year, Egypt’s new President directly confronted Islamic leaders in his country and challenged them to stand against extremism in their religion.

"We are in need of a religious revolution," President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi told imams on New Year’s Day at al-Azhar University in Cairo.

"You, imams, are responsible before Allah," el-Sisi said. "The entire world … is waiting for your next move … because [the Islamic world] is being torn, it is being destroyed, it is being lost — and it is being lost by our own hands," El-Sisi bemoaned.

"All these leaders amongst others," Rev Asante observed, "have all condemned the recent attacks in Kenya. We like to state without reservation that terrorism is evil; Islamic fundamentalism or for that matter any religious radicalism should not be tolerated in any shape or form."

He said he was, thus befuddled by Sheikh Addo’s comment that Bishop Agyin-Asare was provoking Muslims.

"We are totally shocked that a certain Islamic Cleric by name Sheikh Muhammed Zakaria Addo who spoke on Starr FM could actually say that Bishop Agyin-Asare was provoking Muslims without quoting a single statement of the Bishop which he finds provocative.

"We are fully in support of the Bishop's condemnation of the violent attacks in Kenya. We also salute all leaders locally and internationally who have taken a stand against terrorism and religious fundamentalism. If Sheikh Addo is in support of what we condemn, he should say so now. It's time to speak up," Rev Asante said.

In Bishop Agyin-Asare Sunday message, he stressed the need for greater christian evangelism to win over Islamic extremists, and said Christianity is the panacea to fundamentalism.

"The reason why Islamist fundamentalists are behaving the way they are doing is because we haven’t given them the gospel," he said, adding: "If we had taken the Bible to them, they would not take the gun or the sword."

Ghana’s foremost event management company Charterhouse Productions organisers of the prestigious Ghana Music Awards, have apologized to Rapper Sarkodie for using his name without his permission in a VMGA ad as one of the performers on the upcoming awards night set for Saturday April 11.

The company have released a press statement apologizing to the “Illuminati” Rapper after he took to social media over the weekend to tell the world how he felt about what he described as disrespect and cheating on the part of Charterhouse.

Peeved Sarkodie took to twitter on Easter Monday April 6 2015 to take a swipe at the Ghana Music Awards organisers. He tweeted;

"Charter house always trying to play smart on Us smh"

"Everyone benefiting off entertaining but the entertainers"

The BET Award winner continued his social media rant today with countless tweets, registering his displeasure on how Charterhouse is using his name illegally to "deceive" his fans and make money with his name.
In a swift responds, Charterhouse have accepted their mistake and taken responsibly for what seems like an issue of miscommunication or an avoidable error on their part.

Read the unedited statement from Charterhouse below:

The management of Charterhouse expressly apologises for a Vodafone Ghana Music Awards radio commercial that has aired on YFM announcing Sarkodie as one of the performing artistes on the night.

We would like to expressly state that Sarkodie IS NOT performing at the 16TH VODAFONE GHANA MUSIC AWARDS.

Prior to this, we had been communicating and had met with a member of his management team trying to arrive at a favourable figure. In anticipation of that figure coupled with the unstable power situation in the country plus the long Easter weekend ahead of us, where it would be almost impossible to get a studio to record, we worked ahead and recorded different versions of the 16th VGMA’s final event radio commercial. One with Sarkodie’s name and another without. With our fingers crossed, the ads were all submitted to our media manager.

Unfortunately, we were unable to come to a favourable agreement and parted ways amicably. Our media manager was immediately informed on Thursday evening to send out only the ad that DID NOT HAVE Sarkodie’s name. This, she did except for YFM, where she sent the wrong ad which had Sarkodie’s name. Clearly, it was an error from our end which we have totally admitted.

We hereby unreservedly apologise to Sarkodie, his management friends and fans as well.

Measures have been taken to ensure this does not happen again.

Shatta Wale started this revolution last year before the 14th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards took place about payment of performance fee with Charter House, organisers of Ghana Music Awards.
Sarkodie is not happy with Charter House this year after they were not able to reach an agreement of how much they were going to pay and he didn't see the need why they should put him on thier VGMA promotional materials.
Sarkodie decides to go on Twitter and rant about the whole issue with his world wide fans. Read some of his tweets below:
